Professor Guy Claxton classifies some familiar student dispositions as characteristics of ‘being in Learning Mode or Performance Mode’. BOTH Learning Mode and Performance Mode are useful, but we need to be in Learning Mode most of the time in order to improve our ‘performances’. Professor Claxton prompts us to think about the teacher actions that will help our students to be in Learning Mode for most of the time.
